Tourist Visa Requirements Australia: Guide & FAQs

Tourist visa requirements for Australia explained. A Brisbane registered migration agent covers the subclass 600, documents, funds, genuine visit and extensions.

Published19 Aug 2027

To meet the tourist visa requirements for Australia, you generally apply for the Visitor visa (subclass 600) in the Tourist stream and show the department four core things: that you’re a genuine visitor who intends to stay temporarily, that you have enough money to support yourself during the visit, that you meet health and character requirements, and that you have adequate ties to your home country to return to. You also need a valid passport and supporting documents such as evidence of funds, your travel purpose, and, if someone in Australia is inviting you, an invitation and their details. The visa is for tourism, visiting family or friends, or other short-term non-work purposes, and it’s usually granted for a set stay, commonly up to three, six or twelve months. Here’s what each requirement means and how to satisfy it.
