The 491 visa cost is more than the headline government charge. The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) has a main visa application charge for you, plus additional charges for a spouse and each child included in the application. Around that sit the costs that get people ranked and eligible in the first place: a skills assessment, an English test, police checks and medicals, and often professional fees if you use a registered migration agent. There’s no state nomination or sponsorship charge for the visa itself in most cases, but getting nominated or sponsored still involves preparation. Because the government sets and changes these charges regularly, confirm the current figures before you plan around them.
